Effect of leaf pack size composition on the number and type of macro invertabrates Abstract

The experiment was based around the level of macro invertebrates and its effect on stream health. We measured this by placing packets of leaves (three local species including maple). And found out the amount of macro invertebrates working in the stream. Shrimp being the largest amount. We were able to conclude that the stream is not in poor shape

The purpose of the experiment was to find organism's that would be attracted to leaf packs, which leaves attracted more macro invertebrates, the health of the stream etc. The hypothesis is that a healthy stream would ensue if its macro invertabrates had a various amount of leaves Background research and bibliography (Provide a summary of the information you have found that relates to the type of lab you are conducting and cite the source(s) at the end of your paper.

Next go to the stream or source of water, collect leaves (five grams worth)
Place in stream (find location)
Come back in 4 weeks
Bring the leaves into a container

In the graph above it clearly explains the amount of macroinvertabrates caught, the trails (1 through 3), and the control. Its fair to say that the results center around the Oxygen levals, which through computations can be said that their at a stable level. With the use of these equations For the water quality based on the number of macro invertebrates the quality number was in the good range (3.78 was my number)
Error Analysis (Explain how errors could have occurred during the experiment and what steps were taken to minimize their effect. Provide a statistical analysis of the accuracy of your data if possible.) Possible Errors could of been the level of water, when the project started a drought was just ending, by the time we collected the leaves the water was a far rapid pace. This probably had a significant effect on the turbidity level, and the leveal of macro invertabrates Conclusion (Give a full explanation of the outcome of your experiment, noting if the purpose was fulfilled using this procedure. Was your hypothesis validated by the collected data? Why or why not? Explain concisely what you achieved by performing this experiment.)
The conclusion that can be drawn from these procedures is that due to the of large level macro invertebrates, a healthy stream. This in fact does validate my hypothesis, which has with a various amount of leaves (food source).
Suggestions for Further Investigation (Now that you have conducted the lab, reflect on what you or another scientist could do for a follow-up set of experiments that would take the investigation to the next level.)//
A scientist could follow up this expieremnt by applying it to larger source of moving water (the croton river). Or even apply this experiment of a larger body of fresh water (a, reservoir which does move from rivers that supply it, to the city that channel it) Maybe follow the same procedures to prove this data.
